As President of the Board, Suzanne McDonald co-founded Sea Rose Montessori Community School in 2016. She spearheaded the $200,000 schoolhouse eco-reno and continues to actively volunteer at Sea Rose and in the local community through fundraising, marketing, and strategic school growth projects.
A former Boston Globe journalist, Suzanne is now the CEO of Angles & Insights in Newport. As a Marketing Solutionist she guides clients to brand growth using digital media and marketing technology. Winner of the International Business Awards Internet New Media Company of the Year, Suzanne launched & taught several social and digital semester-long courses at the University of Rhode Island and Framingham State University. Suzanne also founded and curates Newport Interactive Marketing networking-learning community — bringing expert speakers’ insights to local businesses, agencies & nonprofits — and has developed & hosted 100+ events, backed by an intern or two via Angles & Insights Student-to-Employment program.
Suzanne holds a Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of South Carolina.
Matt Daily is the Board Treasurer and leader of the Facilities Team at Sea Rose Montessori.
He has been an avid advocate and volunteer for local education for twenty years. At Sea Rose Matt has volunteered many hours to numerous school endeavors, both as a board and community member. In past years, Matt was the technical lead in the initiation of the SMART Board Experiential Learning Initiative at Elmhurst Public Elementary, where he also initiated a foreign language enrichment program, taught computer game design for 4/5th graders, and led chess program for many years.
Matt served on the Board of the Portsmouth Public Library from 2004-2013 and as Board Secretary at Quest Montessori from 2011 through 2015, where he also founded Quest Montessori’s FIRST LEGO League Team.
Matt graduated from University of Michigan with a BS in Electrical Engineering and Penn State with a Masters in Acoustics. For the past 30 years he has been a scientist at Raytheon/BBN. As an adjunct professor, Matt has also taught graduate level computer science at Salve Regina. Matt is actively pursuing a PHD in Computer Science at the University of Rhode Island.
Katie Welles is the Board of Director’s Secretary at Sea Rose. Katie is an accomplished business manager in the financial services industry. With more than 20 years in highly regulated industries, including banking, investments and insurance, Katie has developed deep expertise in identifying, evaluating and mitigating risks across lines of business. She has a proven track record of driving successful remediation efforts across large national teams. Katie earned a Bachelor of Science from University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. She is also an experienced and knowledgeable CFP®️ professional.
Sea Rose Montessori Board is the first non-profit board appointment for Katie. Many years of volunteerism including event organization, youth sports coach, and general elbow grease drove her desire to join the Board. As an alumni parent Katie values Montessori education and the community experience that Sea Rose provides every day to students and their families.
